Bajaj-Triumph has finally launched the Triumph Speed 400 in India. The newly launched bike has an aggressive pricing of Rs. 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 customers. Speed 400 is a by-product of the luxury brand Triumph and the Indian reliable brand Bajaj. Would Royal Enfield still sustain their monopoly in the market after the competitive pricing by Triumph and Harley Davidson?

Talking about bikes under the range of 3 lakh, customers now have various options in every segment to choose from including Indian as well as overseas premium brands.

Triumph’s recent and smallest 400 cc is here in India. A direct rival to KTM Duke and RC 390, Bajaj Dominar, Royal Enfield Classic 350, Hunter 350, Meteor 350 and the Harley Davidson X440.

Not only the brand has thought to have introductory aggressive pricing, but they have offered features which no other bike in this class offers. The bike is priced at 2.23 lakh for the first 10,000 customers, and then the price would be 2.33 lakh. With just one variant available, the customers can choose from the three colour schemes offered.

Triumph Bikes in India

Instrument cluster of Triumph Speed 400

Before the launch of the Speed 400, Triumph bikes only catered to the premium audience with their 660+ cc motorcycles. The price range of the bikes started from 8.2 lakh. However, considering the increasing market and increasing demand in the 350-500 cc motorcycle market. The brand agreed to join hands with Bajaj and work on bikes for this particular segment.

Triumph is also planning to launch Scrambler 400 in the Indian market soon. It has been seen testing on various locations. We can expect the pricing for the Scramble to be similarly aggressive.

Conclusion

Triumph Speed 400

Bajaj has always been a bridge between the Indian market and foreign brands. Bajaj brought KTM to the Indian market and since then everything has changed. Now every brand is trying to produce bikes with premium quality and speed at an affordable price.

The growing market of the sports bike also resulted in bringing back the Royal Enfield’s classic and which is still in the trend. The Classic series slowly caught the pace and started to rule the 350 cc market. However, other brands have tried to compete, but the strong and loyal customer base of Royal Enfield was uneaten. Till now, RE holds the monopoly in the segment.

Though, the recent launch of the Harley Davidson X440 and Triumph Speed 400 at aggressive pricing is aimed to compete with the rival RE. The offering of the Triumph Speed 400 is great under the 3 lakh bracket according to me. What do you think about it? Let us know in the comments section below.
